I'm right there with you and my oldest is only 10yrs! $400 at Costco every two/three weeks and about $200 every 1.5 weeks at QFC. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I have 3 teens in the house...
It will be much better a year from now.
Our living expense will be cut in half.
Very possible the next 12 years will be awesome.

I have a 9 and almost 11 year old. 3 teens would break me. I buy my meat from trusted sources back in SD. I need to grow a garden and learn to can.

I am beginning to understand why dad would come home with 6 gallons of milk, 60 eggs and 20lbs of potatoes :rotflmao

Do you have a very long growing season?
The only ones I see doing it anymore are me in the blue hairs!!
I probably should clip coupons, but I don't. Oh well, I'm the only one here who gets food from the grocery store. The short, hairy ones get their food from wherever I buy it.

@IDIBRONCO we usually have one last freeze in April, and the first freeze mid-late October. Strong sun hours though. Must water as our humidity is low.

I guess the used to have Apple Orchards in Paradox Valley.

Then I can run up to Palisade or Paiona/Hotchkiss for Peaches, Cherries and such.

I need to grow tomatoes first and foremost. Nothing compared to a local garden ripe tomato!! BLT’s, then blanch and can em with a little salt!! I can eat a whole jar!!

Story time: dad and I were eating a quart of quartered tomatoes from his cousin Paulette. My wife thought they liked slimy and disgusting. I said try one...she dropped the c r a p tomatoes from the store she was eating and joined in :rotflmao

That's not bad then. It can do that here too. I am jealous of the low humidity there.

She can only kill ya the one time. She might save it for something else ..... maybe
In complete confession, besides the 6 cars I own now, I had another 11 purchased (scrap prices) and hidden. Was creating a forever parts yard for what I wanted to drive.

Well buddy sold everything and said goodbye to CO and moved to Fallon NV. I had to confess to the wife. I vowed to myself to NEVER to buy another thing without her consent. Breaking a loved ones trust and seeing the disappointment was a wake up call.

On a side note, I could literally die a happy old grouch living in a junkyard!! But I’m happily married so This grouch must compromise!!

I wasn't a believer in hydroponics until they legalized weed here in WA.
Then evolved from high energy HPS to LED.
A full garden might be a little much, but you could easily have a 10'x10' indoor garden for pretty cheap operating cost.
Not growing anymore but developed my own formula for a non-decarboxylated topical for pain management.
Was going to patent it then ran into FDA regulation brick wall, made a multi year personal supply and took down the greenhouse.

Ha, wow that's quite the habit... nice work getting clean and staying clean. Staying on the same page financially(with total honesty) is actually one of the best ways to have a STRONG marriage, and most Americans have no idea. It's huge for trust and accountability and closeness.

Whoa, I think I've read stuff like that in the Bible. 1st Peter to be exact. Praise God.

I'm convinced the results last week, while political, were in fact only a side effect of the spiritual awakening going on, not just here in America, but across the globe.
America's standing is only a reflection of what is in our hearts and souls.
Now it's up to us to spread the only Truth that really matters.
