i have a 94 f250 with 7.3l idit with 250k on it, and runs great. my suspension is a four inch kit, and i am having some troubales with the front end. i think due to miles on her. the spring, drop down brackets, and camber bushings are the only non stock items on the front end except for wheels and tires. my deilime is that everythime i back up the passager side of the ttb looks like itis going to fall off! the aligment goes to crap, but when moving forward down the road looks fine. i firgure the front ends is in need of a rebuild, and i think a bad ball joint on the passanger side upper is the culprit. also every time i go over a bump/pot hole the steering goes all over the place.

i just want to know from anybody who has more expirence with working with dana 50 than me could offer some support. idk about a whole dana 60 swap. i would not even know where to start. please let me know fellas.

I think in some small part that may be the nature of the beast. Almost every ttb equipped vehicle I see looks odd when its been reversed. They still run perfect going straight however.

thats the nature of the beast to a certain point. its just how it is when ya back up. how does it drive down the road? how does the steering feel?

I don't know about the steering. over bumps it is all over the place. I know I need to adjust my steering box.
figured that with so many miles on it. thought it might need an over haul.

I've owned about 6 TTB trucks and they all did weird stuff like that. One of them was particularly notorious for that sort of thing. It just looked fubared all the time. People would point and laugh.... It was that bad. It had a pretty bad wobble going down the road too, but I finnaly found a cure for this sort of thing, it wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I will gaurantee that this WILL solve your TTB issues forever.....

as far as price time and effort. would it be beneficial to rebuild the ttb, or start looking for a dana 60 swap

Dana 60s can be had for as little as 100 or as much as 1200. You have to keep your eyes open and Know what you are looking at and what the axle will need

Just an FYI: Uhaul has rebuilt steering gears for cheap on ebay.

what s a good dana 60 to look out for?

You need a 85.5-97 and it will bolt right in. but if you get a 85.5-94 you will be able reuse your calipers.

BUT in oder to put a D60 in you truck you will need.....

-A dana 60
-The steering linkage(TTB will NOT work)
-D60 leaf springs(TTB springs will ride like NO SUSPENSION)
-drivers side u-bolt plate
-track bar and track bar mount
-F350/D60 drive shaft and the 1356 front yolk that goes with the F350/D60 driveshaft

If it is a 85.5-91 axle it will have king pins and they will most likley be good BUT if they are bad, they are a BEAR to do.

If you get a 92-94 axle they are ball joint and I would put money on them being bad, but not always

If you get a 95-97 axle, again, ball joints are an concern but the calipers bolt on in those yours and you NEED to use those 95-97 calipers.

If yo get a dually axle, it is a PLUS. You unbolt the dually adapter/hub and sell them for $200 then use your TTB hub inplace of the dually hub

My truck has the dana 44hd ttb, with a 4 inch lift, and it was having problems also like yours. Things I found bad were

The bolts that hold the lift brackets to the frame were loose

The bushings where the arms attach in the middle were wore out

The steering box was wore out

The front shackle bushings hidden up inside the front of the frame were bad.
