It is MUCH easier to use a funnel with that style. On the down side, you gave to pour your oil slowly in the winter time. I've overflowed the spout several times with cold oil. That's with 15w/40. Lower viscosity oil may be different.
I typically warm my new oil up to at least room temperature for an oil change. I typically have to add between half and one quart between oil changes.

Thats how you start fires my friend, glad you made it home.

My emergency kit in my truck includes an alligator clip to run from the starter relay to the FSS. Ive had the fusible link give up the ghost before on me.
A fire at this moment was the least of my worries. and yes, that is what i ended up doing to make it home when it blew the last 100amp i had in my pocket. I always have scrap wire so i ran a wire from the fss to the starter relay. Since i have stripped the whole harness and now the bay Has 2 wires.

Getting tired of dealing with cold start smoke issues. Feels like air intrusion or a bleeding down injector... Again.

Drove er into work today with camper so I can do another trip this weekend.

Slightly surprised you’re not getting double digit mpg with the slide in - used to get about 15 hwy with mine and 11 in the city. Think it’s mostly weight rather than aero drag?

Last time I went camping it was to the coast, so driving over the cascades at speed with my foot into it I'm sure didnt help.

I also noticed I have a heat saturation problem. The trip I'm on now was mostly flat ground down the gorge, but was driving into a head wind. Maintaining 65mph coolant temps still liked to sit about 205-210. Also noticed some opaque smoke when driving in the dark in other peoples headlights. Wonder if I need to check timing.

The last time I took mine into a head wind, my mileage was HORRIBLE. I would have been lucky to get that 8.5 MPG. For me, it was 4th gear with the pedal almost to the floor to hold 60 MPH. I also had one eye on the road and the other eye on the pyrometer.

My pyrometer for the most part stays pegged at 820F at all times when maintaining freeway speeds. Creeps up on hills, I back out of it when it hits about 1050F.

Even with the cooling issues, absolutely love how she drives now with all Ive done to er

I would have loved that. I was fighting 25-30MPH head winds, N/A, and 3.55 gears. Overall, not very conductive to low EGTs. I gad to lose speed on even the slightest hill to keep the EGTs down that time. I'm NOT going to attempt that long of a drive in those conditions again. At least after I get a turbo installed, the EGTs will be more manageable.

Your cruising EGTs seem a little high for being intercooled

I run about 700ish at 70, but keep in mind that’s almost 3000 rpm in 5th with 5:13 gears

Food for thought ig

That was with the big slide in camper in the bed. I think it was also against a head wind.

Keep in mind, my service truck is extremely heavy and has a fairly large front surface area as well. His EGTs make sense, as he is geared a bit taller and like you said is in a headwind. Just putting my numbers out there

Started these awhile ago, but finally got both the rear axle hubs rebuilt, finished the new brake lines and have both the rear disc brake conversion completed.
