If you already have the engine out, if you ever plan on doing a turbo, comp springs and head studs are always a good idea, and are pretty cheap.

I put one of those in my 7.3, it's doing the job, so far.
Have only drove it around the block once, but have run 1/4 tank out adjusting stuff and dialing in mods.
Front and mid row seats are out right now waiting for my ass to finish interior.
I just start it every day that I get out there and spend a minute with a silly grin.

I found that CDD sells an 'oem' thermostat with gasket for $25, just waiting for it to show up.

Today, I rigged the blower speed selector switch by taking it apart, cleaning all the contacts, bending forward one of the contact plates that had gotten melty and sunk out of range of the rotating contacts, glueing it back together where i broke a couple crusty tabs. (Ill order a new one to have on the shelf) Then i replaced the blower motor, and blew out the evaporator coil while it was open.

Also, i did the fuel heater delete today. The weep was getting worse and worse, to where it had started to drip onto the valve cover. Pulled the whole head and tapped the hole from the top side 1/2 npt and put a recessed allen head plug in there i think came with the gates water pump. deep cleaned the filter head while it was off and gave it a new filter filled with atf and diesel kleen. New filter cleaned up a bit of smoke.

I was supposed to have this set back in today. The best laid plans foiled by newish neighbor property line disputes and general bad luck getting upgraded to fiber. Such is life. Fingers crossed I don't have to "clearance" the firewall for the down pipe.

If you swing the engine hard enough the firewall will clear itself.

I would recommend doing the clearancing before you have the engine set down in the bay.

I think I have moved enough firewall to set it in but only one way to find out.

Thank you, it's a young kid with lots of money and an entitlement problem. I think I have made him mad enough to put in a fence to keep himself on his own property

Good luck on the set, would be brutal to have to demo all the wrap. I gave up and just insulated the firewall.
It's crazy how flipping tight that engine is after having it out.
I imagined that engine bay was probably the size of some caveman's palace executive suite when doing mine.

I had to make a run for more cat supplies (seems to be a common occurance around here). I decided to cruise the dirt roads home and drive on some that I've never been on before. I did find a road that I wouldn't recommend driving on while or after it's raining or even snowing. I found a cool house too. The location was pretty nice, but the heating bills in the winter would be unbearable.

If you could get the homeowner's permission that would be a great place to do some metal detecting. You might get lucky and find some historical items or maybe even an old farmers bank from years ago.
