last time i have changed the filter was this spring, maybe 8k miles ago. Im going to mark my IP and advance it a bit, see what happens.
Im not ruling the filter out though, perhaps i sucked some crap up form bottom of the tank, but-my carrier lift pump screen would have caught some-In the past when i had goo in the tank the carrier lift pump scren cought most of it, i took it out, rinsed it, and continued using the same fuel filter, truck ran alright. But like i said, im not ruling it out..they definitly can cause all sorts of weird poroblems

man...that is really bad! are you grossing 12k lbs everywhere?

i advanced the timing this morning about a dime and half width. Looks like EGTs are back to normal, approx 550-600 cruising the same route to work.

The rattle when winding up 4th gear is louder now though. hard to describe, sounds like an N/A with no muffler, or maybe its just the SMF and gearbox making noise, doesn't do it in anyother gear WOT. i can take 3rd to redline and no strange noises. will gt a video on way back home.

4th is direct in the zf, so that's a trans issue most likely. Could just be kinda worn.

drove a good 80 miles through various terrain yestterday. Yes the truck definitly feels more like itself now. i donthave to give it half throttle to maintain speed, im doing 500F at 65 mph, 550 at 70. So a good 100F drop. Its torquer off the line, i cant hit as much boost pressure but exhaust is cleaner and in town driving definityl feels peppier. I know a new pump shoudl come soon though.

srw or dually? reg bed or cab and chassis?

this can peak (not get) 17 mpg on the hwy going 55 mph.

You must be registered for see images attach

7.3l/drw/4wd/3.55/e4od/stake body dump/electric cooling fans/8200 lbs empty.

bull moose ip/g code injectors and i believe 7 or 8 btdc at the time i made that (rare, out of normal trip)

Little update. I bumped the bump up in timing a little bit. ran good for a few days. Then later n teh day when I was going to make a longer highway trip it felt soft and mushy again. Static timing didnt slip...weird.
But, i decided to put my old pump back on. At first it was way too advanced, woudl clatter under higher load. Pulled it back a a bit, sounds good, little smoke, and man she feels good again. Great clean response from the pedal, minimal smoke unless I mash it, turbo is responsive, great torque off idle.

I replaced this pump before sinsce it seems to have a surge around 50 mph, still has it but Ill live with that vs a poor performer over all.
I know its time for a quality new pump sooner than later though.

Also this mornin i started it and it instantly died..but restared within 2 turns pretty easy. Strange...I did replace 2 return lines so maybe I got a small intrusion problem somewhere.
