Put new batteries in the truck I would have done that the first day. Stop tossing parts at it. And sympathy away from those power master starters. Just go get a life time warranty stock starter from a local parts store. No need for after market junk. A mean ever thecables could have been made better and less money faster by you.

A DB Electric Starter made all the difference for me - $170 at Amazon.

@Indadesert it is pretty easy to sit back and throw rocks at people in the discussions. Your opinion on the starter is ill informed. You claim to build customs but dont seem to do much. If you believe so much in the stock replacements why all the aftermarket dash? Was the original lacking? I think Ford knew what they were doing when they designed the one that was in your truck. Your logic

@Archieb89 If you replace batteries step up to these or similar brand of your choice but these are 850 cca and will help spin things easier

Before you buy new batteries, have your current ones load tested. It is starting to sound like you were on the right track in your post #14 where you were wondering if your batteries had good voltage, but not enough amperage. That's called a "surface charge". You can even buy a load tester and test the batteries yourself. That way, you'd have a cool new tool.

A load tester is a great tool to use on an annual maintenance schedule. Place a place a date label on them as well. Check them when you lift the cables for cleaning. On the crank issue it may very well be a starter. They do wear out, and don’t go overboard with high end replacements unless you have a demanding environment. There are amperage tests for starters, you have a vintage truck, going to need good analyzing tools, and the skills to use them for the long haul. Take your time, find intelligent videos, good manuals usually have testing techniques. Haynes, not so much, but usually provides a general idea of repairs. Don’t take shortcuts, the next guy to repair it again might be you. Ive had my 91 350 for 20 years, bought it from a well drilling company. Hard life. Pushes snow, dump insert, loaded to the max and then some. Mine is called Wonder Truck. I wonder lots of things about it, start, stop, get me home? Great rigs as you all know.
