I need a line on where people are getting their filters from....in the form of 10,5 and 1 micron sizes....along with a line on a good priced Racor Water Blocker....I've got a setup drawn up and am working on a part's list. Got two other guys that wanna get in on this so we're gonna split the costs.

I get my sock filters from mcmastercarr. They have a good variety of canister water filters too, but I'm not sure how comptetitive their pricing on them is.

There are a lot of posts in the Alternative fuel section. You have to set the search date back a couple of years and you will find all kinds of posts.

A little late but here are a few pics of what I am using.

I havent burned any yet as I dont really drive the truck much since I got my vw. I really need to get the rear tank in though, I have no problem burning through 50 bucks in diesel on the weekends I do drive the truck at these crazy prizes.

The filter heads were bought at a CAT dealer and are standard on several CAT and Cummins powered Semi's. THe filters are 10,2, and .5 microns with the last filter being a house filter and the 10 micron having a water seperator. I have plans to get a centrifuge eventually but with only pulling trailers on weekends I really havent been able to justify buying one. I tend to make enought to cover fuel and then some when pulling so I am on the fence on when to start burning alternatives again.

The pump is off of a chevy 350 and are around 30 bucks new. A plate is ground to block off the stock ports. Then two holes are drilled and trapped into the housing for in and out puts. The oil goes through the pump then through a piece of black pipe with a hot water heater element in it.

Using valves in the clear hoses the amount of oil going through the system can be controlled as well as where the oil passes through. I usually pass the oil over the heater 5 or 6 times to get it hot then pass it through the filters 3 times and then into a 5 gallon container.

well I got some hookups for wmo today so I will soon set mine up but why are you guys using such a low micron filter? I thought the stock fuel filter was like 20 micron or so

To get as much of the carbon out of the fuel as possible. Theres a lot more crap in wmo than in diesel(even though diesel really isnt all that great either.

Anybody have a centrifuge? I'm thinking about getting one once the warranty is up on my baby moose pump. I just spent a lot of money on that and while I want to burn used oil, I dont want to screw up the pump.

ok. Ive still got 11 months to get it all together. I know they are expensive, but if fuel keeps climbing like it is now, it wont take too long to pay it off.

I really like the centrifuge idea though. Its really efficient and there are no filters to change!

Thanks for the pics billy. I have a local CAT dealer right around the corner from me, Im gonna start looking into getting some larger volume filters like you have there. i already have about 8 gallons of WMO to test out with plenty more i can grab from shops around town. I also need to find a 30-55 gallon drum to store this wmo.
as for the chevy 350 oil pump.. is this the easiest route to go with? I was thinking about picking up an old honda or toyota PS pump from a JY and using that instead..
