Shackle Reversal Kit on 1988 F350

Well, Christmas is over and I am starting up on the shackle reversal install. Today I got the hanger and front body mounts removed tomorrow I will determine how exactly I am going to box in the frame.

How far back are you going to box it? I would use a 3/16 or so plate and go from there if you really need to.

I'm only boxing it were it is required up front to mount the new front spring hangers. I am going to try and design the pieces to box it in and have them water jet cut and bent up with the hanger bolt pattern already cut into that way there is no guess work on installation and it looks more like an off-the-shelf "kit" item so shops will still be willing to work on my rig in the future without worrying about liability issues...

Is anyone running a quick disconnect sway bar setup on their rig? If so please post up some pics, I'm currently running some ideas around on how I want to do this.

i think he ment his spring hangers. i have tossed around the swaybar discos, but then decided to just toss the entire bar. never looked back.

Well I got the pieces to box in my frame designed up. I'll be printing out templates tonight to verify fitment and then tomorrow I'll get them in the que for the water jet. I'm going with 3/16 plain carbon steel, everything will fit together like a puzzle and line itself up for welding.

These will get welding into the frame rails, front shackle hangers will be tacked into the correct location and the holes will be drilled in the existing frame rail and through the boxed section to then attach the spring hanger with the hardware provided in the Sky Manufacturing Kit.

Here are the rod ends and locking pins I think I will be using for the quick disconnect sway bars I will be building. It will be a solid rod with 1/2-20 LH and RH tapped ends in which the rods ends will screw into. I will build and double shear upper and lower mount for the links and then use the (4) Locking Pins listed below as the upper and lower fasteners which hold the links in place on the frame end and on the axle end.

Ordered some new goodies for the truck today. New shocks from FOA and a high steer kit from Ballistic Fab.

I'm excited to get this stuff in, 3 week lead time on the shocks though and we'll see what Ballistic forecasts for a lead time on those arms

the Sd springs are approx 4" longer than OBS springs. But if you mount the RSK forward 4" you can use the stock SD springs or SD lift springs and they give a way better ride than OBS springs

The completed sway bar link design with upper and lower mounts. The upper mount will bolt in the factory location and the lower mount will have a pass through shaft that will pass through the base of the bracket and fit into the factory location on actual sway bar torsion arms. The shaft will then be welded to the bracket base and sway bar arm.

WOW! you are spending some serious $$$$$$$$$$

I figure I am already in there redoing the sh*t so why not do it right and spend the money were its important! Suspension and steering are two very critical systems which I do not want failing if and when I use the truck to its full potential.

The steering was already super sloppy with the tie rod balljoints all worn out which would cost me a couple 100 replace. I wanted to replace it with a hi-steer kit and when I say the one Ballistic offers I was in Heaven!

When all is complete the front end should be unstoppable...
