Runaway help

[Here we go again]

1989 7.3 idi started to overheat thain went in to runaway repacked intake no stopping finally got shutdown blowing oil out tailpipe and running on oil any suggestions. Love the truck 1 st problem under 200k on truck

Can you share more details?

Cause of the over heating?
How long did it over heat for?
Do you have oil in the coolant?
Do you have coolant in the oil?

Top of mind you blew a head gasket and oil started getting into the engine. Via blowby through the cdr valve or maybe directly into some pistons.

I would start by doing a compression test via the glow plug holes. Pull all the glow plugs first so you do not hydro lock and damage the engine. You will likely find out which cylinders are compromised.
