Yes, but think about how many times that one bulb is handled by Oreilly employees even just getting to a store, then its kept in a climate controlled building with lights shining down on it for you to walk in and find it, and be rung up by a person making your local min wage, and thats assuming "you" (not anyone on this board im sure) actually pay for them and not just pocket them. All to just turn a buck...

Where rockauto, only has to get it off the truck, onto a shelf, and then a min wage worker slaps the lightbulb and a neat little freebie magnet in it a ultra thin cardboard box with special rockauto tape that barely seals the box together long enough you get out of the warehouse let alone make it to the fedex warehouse!! All just to turn 2 bucks lol

I see both sides to this, but when Im balls deep in a project and ive ordered the wrong dang wheel cylinder from Rockauto for 2.5 inch brakes when I needed them for 3 inch. I will gladly pay the 50% marked up rate of 16.99 at oreilly who has it on the shelf ready to go....

I have bought shocks on RockAuto multiple times. They're heavy. RockAuto does a better job of taping than Amazon. Their boxes are plenty heavy duty too.

Aside from that... what are you babbling about?

It's $21 for 30 bulbs on RockAuto (10 each of 194, 1156, 1157) for the exact same Sylvania long life bulbs, with $10 shipping. That's also before using a 5% off code.

I mean, if you'd rather pay retail price for the same exact thing. It's not 50% markup. It's 1,100% mark up in the case of the bulbs..But if you want to consider shipping, which RockAuto doesn't keep, it's still almost 550% mark up at O'Reilly.

The people who make out during a rockauto transaction are fed ex and ups. But what's amazing, even at that super cheap price that rockauto sells those bulbs, they are still making money.

To be fair, rockauto buys closeouts and gets deals from suppliers who want to get rid of products. That is why their inventory varies so much or is non-existent for certain items.

I know that there's pros and cons to using Rock Auto. Shipping is astronomical these days and has been for the last 5 or 6 years. I will keep using Rock Auto because I feel that I come out ahead. Whether or not I actually doesn't matter, but I believe that I do.

It's really not, with RockAuto. I paid $25 shipping a year ago for a big order that included all 4 shocks for the E350. Other stuff included radiator hoses. It was all from a single warehouse. In the same order, I got fleetrunner 9580HD belts for $17.90 each ($40 at O'Reilly). The $15 each radiator hoses are $31 & $40 at O'Reilly. It was a big, heavy box. So right there alone, the savings were greater than the shipping. And the shipping wouldn't have been $25 for just belts and hoses.

Overall, I saved 50%, on a $270 order (including the $25 shipping).

The reason AutoZone and O'Reilly can do "free" shipping is because they charge so much more for the parts, even with a 15-20% ship-to-home promo code.

You know I like to ***** as much as the next guy but I have to say rock auto has saved me so much money over the last 6 or 7 years it's not funny. before I started using them I was able to do 1 rig year, that's all I could afford. Granted I do live out in the sticks so parts prices are higher than what you all see in town but the very first year I did 3 vehicles. My normal stock in trade are Ford trucks but i find a good deal on a rig I buy it, then it doesn't get sold untill I've went thru it and then driven it for a month or so. When it proves to be something that I would be proud to own i peddle it, no I don't make a penny on labor but I do get a damn good price for my vehicles, my customers are always happy and they always come back. without RA I couldn't dream of doing what I do, I use their closeout section to keep in stock parts that I use all the time on my Ford trucks and whatnot. Do I use amazon? hell yes you cant beat their price on motor oil and if I need some little part I'll get it but with amazon's desire to crush all competition in the market and my desire to chose for myself who i buy from, Rock Auto gets the lions share of my business. And just curious have any of you shipped anything lately? it freakin cost up the "you know what" but at least the folks on those trucks are earning a living wage. Damn it I really wanted to ***** about something, as far as how RA does the little switcho chango with the warehouses you got me, i just hope it ends up benefitting the employee's and not the owners pockets.

Paid $11 shipping mid November for a big heavy transmission cooler. Entirely reasonable. Still saved some money over Summit with "free" shipping.

I’m new to this forum but I’ve been buying parts professionally for 30 years. I’ll never use RA. Just buy the parts local with life time warranties and never look back. I stick the receipt in the glove box in a zippered pouch. I don’t even pay for brake pads or shoes more than once.

Dunno what to tell you. RockAuto has packed things fine for me. Maybe it's a certain warehouse that has a sloppy packer.

The box I got a couple months ago. Tons of padding and taped fine. The RockAuto tape is just a garnish, after regular clear tape.

Edit: the bubble packs may have been from another package, come to think of it.
