Remove topper and add stacks?

So do i give in to the peer pressure and other poser trucks in the area and add stacks? Not the outrageous gawdy looking stacks but something smaller and more appropriate for the truck? My parts truck has stacks that are 3in diameter

they sound mean!

Personally i'd just do a straight pipe out the side. Keep your bed nice and uncut. The only reason i see for stacks is to fit in or if you tow a flatbed alot. Otherwise it looks just the ricer diesel dodges and powerstrokes out there.

No. You don't need stacks unless you have more than 2 axles. I don't usually knock anyone for setting up their truck the way they want, but there is no performance to be gained by having stacks, and in my opinion the recent fad of adding them is a bit like putting a biplane wing on the back of a 4door Civic.

It's another thing if you've had stacks since before they were "cool" or have a compelling reason for them- ie a drag truck that has them because they're required by the racetrack to keep from fogging out the timing lights with the exhaust. If you have a functional topper and a unmolested bed, don't go cutting it all up just to look cool. It'll sound just as good and run just as good with a single 4" exhaust under the bed- trust me.

As said don't cut holes in the bed.... but it's your truck do what you want... I wanted to have a stack on the dodge and vowed never again... puts soot on the truck at start up - not worth it.... Side exit or tail exit exhaust for me or like now exits under the bed before the rear axle - either way no soot on the roof and across everything and I mean anything and everything in the bed.... how cool is a cool full of beer or food covered in little pieces of soot - NONE.... it's almost disgusting... hated it because everything I touched in the bed I came away with black dirty hands... I only want to get my hands dirty under the hood.... but again it's your truck do what you want and not what anyone else or myself thinks....

If it floats yer boat - then go sailing....

Personally I say do NOT ****** a rust free bed, if you must have stacks use the bed off the parts truck, but that's just me.

That is so true, I see trucks with stacks all the time now, even gas trucks with 5" stacks :***:. I have mine for years and it was cool then when I think I was the only guy in My area with them on a pickup truck, some times I feel they look stupid on some trucks and makes Me want to take mine off yet I like mine enough to keep them for now.

There is a right way to do stacks that will not interfere with the topper and puts the stacks where they belong, without having them poking up through the bed.

My truck has had stacks since soon after it's original purchase.

At that time, myself and a cattle-hauling partner were the only ton-trucks around that had stacks.

They are mounted externally, just behind the cab-doors.

The doors just barely clear the stacks when opening/closing.

This type of stack mounting is the only style that appeals to me; those that poke through the bed just don't quite accomplish the look.

glad i had them on my f-250 before i attempted it on the scout.it looked neat and sounded great (drone on the highway was terrible! ) everytime i started it soot would cover everything!

the stacks in that video looks like he had extra exhaust pipe more than anything!

There's a Ranger around here with the 2.3L Turbo Diesel that has two little 2" stacks with rain caps in the bed. I'm no huge fan of stacks, but when that little truck takes off from a light and pushes a little puff of coal out the top is pretty freakin cool. Like a little pre-pubescent peterbilt or something.....

i think run stacks is ok but i would run it out of under the back bumper in the center sort like anti tail gater device....
