I was pretty sure that this rear axle out of my 1990 F250 idi would not work in my 1992 e4od bronco because the 1990 axle has no speed sensor for the trans computer to read. Now I am reading that my e4od has a electric speed sensor in the tailshaft and the diff tone ring is for abs ( I don't have abs anymore). I don't believe that my speedo will work without the diff tone ring and sensor, let alone the trans. Can someone set me straight? Thx ;)

I'm pretty sure, if the truck had ABS, it has a VSS on the differential. The bricknose trucks that had an E4OD, have a VSS in the speedometer cable for the TECA, and the RABS uses the VSS on the differential. On the OBS (92+) trucks, the VSS on the rear differential is used by both the TECA and the RABS.

For what it's worth, my 91 with the ZF5 is a cable driven speedo but also has a sensor on the rear axle for the ABS just like Snicklas said.
