man, that was one of the funnest cars i ever had!

1975 buick Apollo!
i cut the roof off, installed a 10 point cage from another race car,
pulled the 350 out and installed a pontiac 400, removed all the plastic and glass,
ran it in what we call a pumpkin smash, a track covered in left over pumpkins from hallows eve, and soap.
500 lap endurance race....

one of my favorite races!
GM cars are great, ford cars are junk!
ford trucks are #1!
wont ever buy a chevy, GMC truck.....

hijack over!

Greg I probably have a set of red seatbelts I'd let go. I would like to keep them for a month or so until I get my interior fitted so i have them for reference. Let me know.

picked up a 7k lb rotary asymetrical lift today. Was in a ford dealer that closed down. Looks decently clean, got all the parts. Definitly a heavy sumbish. I came to terms I wont be lifting the truck, there is just no need. I can slide under the axles on my creeper no problem with it in the ground, and I got those 6 ton truck stands that I get all 4 wheel sup at same time for a tire changeover. however lifting the cab or the flatbed will be just fine with this. Its mainly for my family and friends cars, and general project cars. Cant friggin wait to never have to work with rust an inch above my nose and no room to move an arm! Truck was loving the light load.

i think my vibration is getting worse. I cant seem to track down the issue. Tires are all balanced good. My u joints are all good in the driveshaft. I will get the angle finder back on it but i am pretty sure everything is nice and in phase/in plane. Wheel bearings are tight...
Had 1800# in the bed few weeks ago seemed to be smooth then. I never went above 60 mph. But vibration is usually there from 45-70mph or so. I need to get a more accurate angle finder maybe. Its really quite annoying!

In other news, I am motivated again to start work/finish up the truck. So tomorrow I plan on getting the bumper all welded up and the bottom parts put on. hopefully paint it as well. Then cab lights, HVAC etc etc.
I am getting the itch to start my mustang restoration and I KNOW i need to get one thing done and done before starting something else.

I ordered a digital inclinometer, accurate to +/- .2 degrees. I think the other one is just no good (and i dropped it a bunch lol) When i was measuring my 2 post lift column what looked liek .25 degrees on the protractor, was reaaally off on the bubble scale.

Does the rear pinion point further up when you load the suspension? Or does it stay the same but the second shaft (one going into pinion) that ends up having less of an angle when loaded right?

The pinion twists up on acceleration. After sitting here thinking about it for a minute, I can't tell you which way it would go loaded but I can say that the carrier is coming down in relation to it. That would do a couple things. It woul net you a little flatter driveline and it would also plunge the slip yoke in a touch farther. Is there a chance you are a little short on your slip joint? If you are it would cause the splines to wear and get worse over time. :dunno

no i checked the splines they are perfect. As well its all stock matching 06 rear end frame and rear driveshaft. Well I will report back on Wednesday when the digital angle finder comes in. No point guessing without knowing for sure. Im hoping I just need to shim the rear end a half or 1 degree or so. Im going by the Dana guide for driveshaft setup.
My short jackshaft from trans to tcase is all in plane and the u joint angle are equal (5 degrees).

Is it possible..that the shocks are causing the vibration? Like are they overdamped when unloaded and coupled with the big tires something funky happens? Monroe gas magnum shocks.
Buying bilsteins is an expensive experiment to run to just find out it rides the same..

one thing I am wondering about-howqever doubtful, the 06 rear shaft I have is from an Auto truck and it has a big damper near the pinion. I doubt there is a specific phasing it needs to be in. And it looks to be all in good shape..

iu was gonna mention the dampner, my 01 has one, yours should have the same, glad it does.

ive never pulled a newer driveshaft apart. does it have 1 major spline in the intermediate slip yoke so that the u-joints are clocked in the same position?
