So I am about to install an intercooler and want to put in the exhaust venturi in the truck. Would there any advantage to placing it in the down pipe vs down in the 4" section? And I dont need any type of filter. I have tried an RDT with no luck.

Other question is do I need a valve cover vent if I do this, of just a hose from the front cover to the exhaust?

I will start off saying I have zero experience in actually using an exhaust system to draw vapors out of the crankcase. However, I do know that a venturi works by increasing the velocity of the exhaust stream, which creates a localized region of lower pressure at the venturi tip, which helps draw the vapors out. Based on my logic I think you would want it in the narrowest stretch of exhaust pipe you have, because more velocity change=more pressure differential.

Oh, and thanks for resurrecting this thread. I've done many searches and never seen it, and it is the only one I've run across where someone has actually done it.

I had the crank vent run into the exhaust for almost 2 years. I also had the cdr hooked up in the normal manner at the same time. didnt get any oil in the exhaust or in the intake.

Why are you so worried about oil in the intercooler?

um kills the effeciency, oily boots etc, etc. nor do I like the like the oil running into the turbo.

Also how did you have the CDR hooked into the tubo and exhaust at same time?

Update: I removed this about 2 years ago and reinstalled the CDR. I suspected that whatever I did caused way too much crankcase pressure and now I have severe oil leaks from every gasket and seal. After I reinstalled the CDR I still have lots of crankcase pressure, so it might not have had anything to do with the RDT in the exhaust, but I know that my oil leaks started soon after the RDT was installed.

Yeh, I would like to route it into the exhaust because an RDT caused mine to leak. I just want to know if I can put it in the down pipe or have to go lower?

Also a 3/4" pipe is 1" OD which allows you to run 1-3/8" OD/ 1" ID tubing.

Ive got this on several of my trucks now. It hasn't seemed to matter what size the exhaust is, if you put the venturi tube into the exhaust at the correct angle and depth it will draw the crank case vapors through the exhaust. This helps hide the blow by seen by a RDT as well.

Find some high temp silicone hose. Its oil resistant and high temp resistant and also doesn't take allot of force to flex it around.

This is like what I use.
I can't find the web site I bought mine from. It was a company that makes all the oil lines for the US Military's Abrams tank. The stuff above is probably the same stuff just a different company reselling it. Its not cheap but it won't ever go bad. Don't even try using regular rubber heater hose, itll last maybe 2 months tops.

This will sound Charlie cheap ass but I used the clear vinyl 1" hose with the nylon mesh and it has held up good since I did my rdt Venturi install. It hasn't softened from the oil nor gotten hard and brittle from the exhaust heat. Now keep in mind the 1" pipe I used for the Venturi sticks out 6" from the outside of the exhaust pipe from where I welded it.
