RDT into exhaust

The open end of the T has got to be where the increse in turbo whistle is comming from. Either its the sound of air being sucked in or its allowing the sound of the turbo out.
I ran my truck for a day w/o exhaust after the dp was installed and the turbo whistle was awsome.

Road draft tube. Its a crankcase vent that take the place of the CDR valve and vents vapors outside of the engine, or in this case into the exhaust stream and out the tailpipe.

RDT is a Road Draft Tube, and it hooks into your crank case to vent the blow by instead of it getting re-burned.

Nope cause I ran it with and without the t and the whistle didn't change at all.

Do you have a diagram or sketch of this with the "t"?

So for those running a vacuum in the crankcase to remove the blowby, are you installing a breather vent in a valve cover or a vented oil cap? To allow fresh air in while blow by goes out?

That would be the key as well. It would keep you from imploding gaskets and such but it would be RARE that you would ever do that. I ran a double system on my drag car for years and it never ate a gasket. Of course it didn't have oil cooling squirters making high oil vapor and such, but it did have a crankshaft turning 8800 RPM, which will make a ton and is almost three times what these motors turn. I would think a T and a check valve would be good as well, but I would think it would sound like an exhaust leak without the check valve.

I had hoped to do a system and a tech article on it this past summer, but crap happens, like divorce!

I have the Mr. Gasket kit. I've attached their installation guide. It shows the angle and such of the tubes going into the exhaust pipe. Hope that helps.

on edit - also note that under illustration 1 it says to "Seal Engine...plug all openings..."

Does this weld in tube have to be on the downpipe or can it be farther down the exhaust pipe? I was just wondering in case I was to do this but did not want to take the downpipe off to weld in the 45 degree tube. Like said above I had duals on my mustang and it worked like a charm. Never had a oil leak and never had problems with sucking a gasket in. I wasn't sure if the exhaust flow changed alot downstream and might change the vacume alot?

I'm right at the base of the down pipe where is goes from 3" to 4". I tapped into the adapter so I wouldn't screw up the 4" pipe.

Could I put a hose on the CDR to the DP? I have the factory turbo w/ the CDR on the valve cover already. By leaving it there it will still function and pull closed if theres too much suction. There is a big baffle in the valve cover so I dont think it will hurt anything.

Be forwarned, that there are different ways that you can do this, and the key difference is that Ron's method allows for the venturi to draw air from either the crankcase, or atmosphere. This is an important difference!

Mel, so I understand, If we're talking about a RDT setup, how would it draw from atmosphere?

Scott, the drawing in your PDF file shows....lets say, welded tube coming in from top @ 45deg. Then the 45deg cut on inserted pipe is now facing down, & is parallel with Ex pipe.
If the 45deg cut on tube was rotated 180deg, this would put 45deg cut @ 90deg with Ex pipe, with long point facing down.
You or anybody know if it matters which direction the 45deg cut is facing, as long as the welded tube in installed @ 45deg?

As far as sealing the engine, it'd take months & months as many leaks & seeps I got.

The 45 degree cut needs to be placed so that the tip of the venturi is parallel with the exhaust stream.
As far as drawing from the atmosphere on my setup a T was placed between the motor and the exhaust whixh is where the outside draw comes from.

right now I've been experimenting with a closed system and all seems to be well so far.

Sorry I haven't been able to post photos yet due to my work volume. I may see if Darrin can get a few pics snapped and posted tomorrow for me whilst he eats his doughnuts and sells a truck or two.
