The screen on the top of the intake... is it removable without destroying it. I tried loosening the nut on top but I didn't want to go crazy on it and break something before I asked.

Thanks!

the nut is the only thing that holds the screen on.
maybe some oil from the cdr has glued it on?
try some brake clean

Thanks man. I'll be a little more forceful. All I had at that instant was a crescent wrench in my hand. Didn't want to risk messing it up.

I couldn't get the nut to turn with the crescent wrench. Then I wasn't sure if it was supposed to turn or not. That was my issue.

Comes right off with the correct socket and wrench. Righty tighty is how it fits too. Never seen one with any loctite on it yet but who really knows.
Another question is why do we have this screen on the intake??/ Maybe because we do not have any venturies like a carb has to "catch" trash...:dunno:dunno

My buddy from the Porsche world looked at it and said don't throw it away, it straightens the air out. Is he full of crap? Could be. :dunno

I figure it will keep the large pieces of turbo out of the engine if it ever decides to self destruct... and make it through the intercooler....

Rag guard maybe? took mine out, anything that goes thru that "fine" screen will definitely hurt the motor
