putting my 1994 back together after engine r&r and I'm getting no glow plug action. They worked fine before removal and the controller solenoid is nearly new. All I get is a FAST quick flash of the WTS light for well under 1 second. Just bad connections?

Thanks

It worked first thing this morning like normal so I went ahead and started it and let it run for a bit. Turned it off and then tried the glow plugs a few minutes later and the WTS light immediately flashed on then went out. I guess it was just warm enough that it kicks off immediately?

Turns out the glow plug controller went out. It was an aftermarket one I had put on in 2013 when I first got the truck. It was doing this intermittent "no WTS" light thing for a few days then leaving work one day it decided to give me NO glow plug action.

Turns out my truck won't QUITE start without the plugs. 1/2 second shot of GOOD ether to the air filter got it to light. (after it traveled and dissipated a bit through the intercooler) I only did that once to get home.

Attached are pics of the replacement Motorcraft controller and the burned out aftermarket one. No visible signs of failure, but the sealed area where the electronics are is MUCH smaller on the aftermarket one -Lame

I kind of have the same thing here also, but my wts light will go out after 8-10 seconds, and my voltmeter won't go back to up until about 5 seconds after the wts light goes out. My truck will start up after about 1 or 2 revolutions after waiting for the wts and voltmeter, just curious if this is normal.

That is totally normal. The glow plugs cycle even as the engine starts and runs for the first 10 to 60 seconds. Mine cycle for quite a while when it's 0° outside
