I guess I could give it a try. If it eats up the pump I can always replace it with a pump that will hold up. Ant ideas on an affordable gear pump?

350 chevy oil pump driven by a drill.or big block pump if you want even more flow.
my SBC one will pump about 50 gallons in 10-15 minutes at 1000 RPM depending on the temp.

you have to modify the pump so that the ports have tubes in them.oil does leak a little bit from the shaft though.

or you could use a power steering pump as well.

I also like the idea of the power steering pump. I would be afraid that the SB oil pump would leak badly with the pressure of filtering but a great portable transfer pump.

I use a PS pump from a 1986 Honda Accord for my setup. Not the fastest pump in the world, but it has lasted me almost two years...

Thanks. I've been running my first tank, filtered through fabric, and I love it! The first time I switch over to the WMO tank and when the oil hit the engine I had to let off the foot feed. It literally lurched forward. I'm got everything I need for a filter setup and collection accept the pump.

On ebay, I just picked up a slightly used blue 1" clear water pump exactly like the one from Harbor Freight (see ***** Nates post) for $20 plus $20 shipping. I think i'm going the 3 filter housing route with a 15 micron, a 5 micron, and then a 1 micron string woven filter cartriges, followed by a water separator.
