I know people have talked about this before but is it possible to run a PSD turbo on our IDI's? I can get a hold of a 96 PSD turbo and Pedestal/mount kit for under 150, and could you make the turbo's mount kit work on our blocks for mounting the sucker? I can get scrap exhaust pipes for the turbo to help with fabricating up the pipes.....any help in appreciated

With enough fabrication skills and imagination, nothings going to bolt on though.

it would probably generate too much boost, i think it is something like 36 PSI but idk thats just a rough guess. the 7.3 P-Stroke only has 9:1 comp and the 7.3 IDI has 21.5:1 i believe, so that would be a bit munch boost. maybe a factory turbo from a 6.0 would work. but i dont think the 7.3 PSD would like your IDI very much.

Powerstroke has around 17:1 stock not 9:1... and on a stock OBS Powerstroke theyll likely make under 20psi with stock 90cc injectors.

Edit: The 6.0 turbo is also VGT and that would just be a hassle..

I think it would work, what year is it off of? You have three exhaust housings to choose from if you dont like the way it spools.

That'll have the 1.15 housing if its stock. You may be able to fab enough that it will sit similar to the Powerstroke. It wont have the spyder im sure you know since the Powerstrokes dont use an intake manifold. Might PM dyoung, I think he almost had a PSD turbo setup done at one point.

I was thinking of maybe measuring up the Pedestal and making a plate behind the manifold where the CDR goes, and cut holes in the plate where i can set the turbo how i want it...... maybe bend a flat plate and bolt it where the cdr bolts to and use the plate also to block off the hole in the Intake and make some custom arms to bolt the back end of the plate to the motor ?????

Something like that might work trapper, the PSD Turbo is oiled through the pedistal, creative tapping of the oiling holes may work

Im gonna go tomorrow and look into making a plate..... would i be able to feed the psd turbo through steel braided lines from the hole in the back where the oil pressure sending unit goes? and plum it into the hole of the Valley Pan...and maybe T it off and use a Mech. Oil pressure Gauge in the cab?

I personally wouldn't look at the stock Stroker turbo, it's performance is going to be lackluster at best, and the oil setup and mounting is goofy compared to any other turbo, so, it's a big waste of time IMHO.
My 96, the turbo really doesn't do much below about 2500.... It's worse than my non gated banks was on the 6.9
