I'd rather see a PSD go in the old body than a Cummins. Someone sucessfully did a Bronco with a PSD. Probably real easy, just a lot of time in the wiring. Better yet, do a DT-466. That's the road less traveled.
if it was me and i had the money i would put it in the idi, im very sure an idi would hold up to 400hp if not more, but i guess im just all about proving thet idi's can make power, and what do you need 400hp for anyway?

i was talking about about flywheel horse because he hasn't been on a dyno yet.
are you kidding me?im building about 400HP at the rear wheels with my psd.and it runs 15.07 in the 1/4.
Dude I'm not trying to argue with you but.....I never said you can't get 400HP out of a PSD. What I said is.......it is not a good platform to search for BIG HP. 400HP is not "BIG" in my opinion. You double that and we'll talk.;p I also said ..........it was not designed to make 400HP which it was not. I'd rather see a PSD go in the old body than a Cummins. Friend of mine has a DT466 he would sell me for cheap! but whats the drivability? Lots of torque but not alot of HP. Maybe if i was building a stricktly pullin truck
Ah. That makes sense. I remember a previous post of yours about idi vs. psd reliability. But it does make sense that you would need the PSD power though.
Why.....because that is an engine you can get big reliable HP and huge torque out of cheaper than a 5.9 cummins. Particullary NGD ('93-'95) Bosch "P" pumped versions.
How much would he let it go for? If he wants to sell it cheap and you don't want it........pass it on to a fellow OB!

well it is a true 4" downpipe and 5" from there the ts does alright on the 140 setting, he also has a vacuum T in line with the wastegate to get a little more boost. we had our snap-on scanner on it and while he was driving under very hard exceleration he hit 34psi maxedhe was topping out at an average of 30lbs.
ken at dps has a idi that makes more than 400 horsepower and its steetable, but its not to dependible when its cold cause its hard to crank, im almost certain one would hold up to that much power, you can get nearly 300 horsepower with 15psi boost a good pump good injectors free flowin exaust ram air intake, lower compression and more fuel and about 30 psi of boost should take you to about 400 horsepower, and dont say an idi cant hold up to that much boost, cause i know were one is that runs 28 psi of boost every day and it has about 40,000 miles on it now, and its his daily driver, but he only gets about 8-10 mpg 12 on a good day, and it will out run new strokes and cummins that are stock, and its a very dependible motor
