well im going to start a project truck soon, going to be a 93 f-150 4x4, im going to put my 83 model 6.9 in it, with the 4000 rpm governer spring, probly lift it up some put some big tires on it and make it a mud bogger or, i might leave it the way it is and put the diesel in it and drive it havent made my mind up yet, but i will take plenty of pictures,

Alright now for the questions, i have a few different transmissions and dont really care which one i use but i have to find a combonation that works, i have a 2wd diesel zf5 will a transfer case bolt to it? i also have a 4 wheel drive 6 cylinder zf5, i have a 4wd 4sd t-18 im guessing come from behind a 351, and i have a 2wd c6 trans thats bolted to my 6.9 right now, so whats my options?

well if you want the OD you will need the diesel ZF but to make it 4wd you will need the T-case adapter and a 4wd output shaft i doubt the 6 cl output should would work, diesel ZF are kinda specific. so you ither go with the 4speed witch sucks or you find a 4wd ZF or find a divorced mount NP 205 out of an early ford and just have some driveshafts made

hmmmm i will have to thik this over, i wouldnt care to use the 4 speed but i dont have a diesel bell housing and im having a hard time finding one around here, and my next question the c6 is it diesel specific? i was told there is just an adaptor bolted between the trans and block whats the truth in this story?

All Ford diesel trannies of this era are diesel specific. Th T18-19 are usable with the proper bell. The adapter plate is just to wide for any gas bells.

If the 2wd zf is a diesel bell I would use it with a divorce mount np205

another vote for the divorced 205 but really this depends greatly on your wheel base and how much you plan to lift it. really it doesnt have to be a 205 you could use a np200 or 203. i think its the 203 that is a little loud on the highway though.

i think they mainly came in 70s 4x4 fords. basically its a 2wd trans with a short jack shaft going to the input on the tcase then youve got your rear output and front. and you just make a mount for the tcase to hang.

also dont forget you can get a f450 zf-5 and put a tcase on it even though its 2wd

Dont know if the 203 was used on ford but Chevy used them and they were not diviocred and were continues drive

A pic of a divorced t-case, you will need one from a ford because ford uses a drivers side drop front axle

You must be registered for see images

here my next question i got to talking with a ford guy i know he a gasser man but he said he thinks i could use a 400 4speed belhousing with the adapter thing thats between the c6 and that should allow me to use a 4 speed from a gasser to a diesel without having the diesel bell housing?
