i went to give this project a name,
but as its not mine, I failed to do so.

I have been contracted to built asmiths truck for him due to lack of time on his part.

I am posting this so that he can watch the progress, and so that you can watch along as well.
also, to keep a log of things ive done.

here is the list of agreed items that I am to do.

Build and install engine

All new seals including oil cooler

Make sure tolerances are within spec

Install air to water cooler

Install ZF5 with new clutch

Install hydroboost brake

Move brake pin and Swap pedals

Fit group 31 batteries

Install gauges

there is another list of "extras" but lets get through the contracted list first.

today: I started on this project, I will be hitting it as much as I can between work and kids.
I don't have as much time as I used to due to work being busy, but my goal is to have it done by the end of the month.

I cracked the 7.3T open today to find the short block in awesome order.
all rods feel great!
I went to turn it over, and I heard... clink clank, and then it stopped rotating! :O

turns out the IP gear was interfering because no IP was installed.
slapped a spare IP I had layin around, and everything is as smooth as butter..
was worried for a second lol

next up, I cleaned the heads up, checked them with an anvil mic.
fount the intake valves to be in spec, but the exhaust valves are a touch too recessed.
this wont be an issue.
next up I filled the intake runners with alcohol. a touch of alky leaked out of the valves, but this is likely to be dust and dirt between the seat and valve.
air will hold fine, luckily fuel is injected:D
exhaust valves seemed better than the intakes.
tomorrow I will pull the intake valves and look at the seats and valves, but I don't forsee an issue.
they actually look really good!
a .001 feeler gauge does not fit under the straight edge. golden.
tomorrow, or perhaps tonight, ill mic the piston protrusion and use the straight edge on the deck of the block.

SNAFU...

situation normal... all F'd up!

went to install the rockers today, and BAM, someone screwed up when they purchased head studs!
cannot tighten the rockers down without them hitting the studs.
I thought they looked long, I verified that today.

the shorter studs are the ones I ran on my cracked block.
these must be PSD studs. damn....

my question to the OB crew..... if I order the correct ones, and change them out 1 by 1, will this effect head gaskets?

Where did you get them? Isn't there something on R&Ds site about rocker clearance?
