Umm not good for the motor at all. And after being in the automotive industry building cars and trucks for a living for 40 years I’ve learned, power master anything is a total waste of money. Gimmicky junk. Over priced and short life.

Get your glow plug system working properly and when that starter goes out buy a life time warranty starter for 1/2 the price and never pay for one again. Ford did in fact get it right 37 years ago.

These guys are ALL ABOUT a power master starter! I personally can't afford one and like the modern style that uses a planetary set up, they spin like the Dickens!!!

Does anyone remember when we were discussing power master and a couple of you guys actually toured their facilities? I feel like that was a @chillman88 thing? I can't remember right now.....

Anyhoo, yeah, I'd totally get one. And not just because they're great, but everyone that works at their plant is supposed to be super nice...... and I'm ALL ABOUT SUPER NICE PEOPLE.....LOL.

There is the issue of the top bolt though, it's really supposed to be tough to get it, but once it's in you shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time!

I like mine. The glow plugs on my 91 work perfectly and therefore with spinning over so fast it starts very quickly. Have had the Powermaster on there since Dec 1st 2024

After reading about these starters, many good reviews from those who've installed them, talking to mechanics who actually work on these things, it was on my list to get. I was visiting NE Ohio last month and my starter went out. Summitt Racing was 30 minutes down the road and had them in stock. Yes, the middle bolt was hard to get to, it always is! I'm still smiling everytime it immediately turns over! Just today I wasn't watching my fuel and it started sputtering so I whipped into the station I was near. When I went to start it, it took a couple of quick turnovers to get the fuel to the injectors, but once again, I was smiling!

you are trying to pick a fight with the wrong one bud. my glow plug circuitry works perfectly(thanks to some of the vendors that make very nice harnesses). she fires right up in the low 20F. which is about as cold as it gets around here.

if you want to enjoy a mexican or china made starter, because some jew stamped "Ford" on it, then go right ahead. The only reason I replaced the starter is because the mexican "Ford" one roached out on me. I only put the best stuff on my trucks. I seen powermaster was made in US, and alot of people like them. So i got one. I was very impressed tbh. I'm actually gonna get one for my 6.4 08 F450 as well, if they offer it.

I like to buy US made parts.

the only thing ive seen with a "short life" is the mexican and china ones.

and if you want to get into credentials, i been working on heavy industrial diesels for 25 years. like heavy equipment in mines and huge gen sets, not mall crawler trucks. I just recently came to appreciate the 7.3 IDI's.

I have the Power master 9050 on my 86 6.9.
Put it on there a good 7 years back or more.
Never have had a problem with it. Always kicks
the engine right over.

The 9051 for the Power Stroke is the same Starter,
but with a spacer ring. Remove the ring and it bolts
right up.
