. They're not as tough as the ones one the old AC Delco direct drive starters are. There is the issue of the top bolt though, it's really supposed to be tough to get it,
Umm not good for the motor at all. And after being in the automotive industry building cars and trucks for a living for 40 years I’ve learned, power master anything is a total waste of money. Gimmicky junk. Over priced and short life.
Get your glow plug system working properly and when that starter goes out buy a life time warranty starter for 1/2 the price and never pay for one again. Ford did in fact get it right 37 years ago.
And we're glad that you did!I just recently came to appreciate the 7.3 IDI's.
He came for the Power Master starter information.....but he stayed for the IDI education....And we're glad that you did!
Here ya go.These guys are ALL ABOUT a power master starter! I personally can't afford one and like the modern style that uses a planetary set up, they spin like the Dickens!!!
Does anyone remember when we were discussing power master and a couple of you guys actually toured their facilities? I feel like that was a @chillman88 thing? I can't remember right now.....
Anyhoo, yeah, I'd totally get one. And not just because they're great, but everyone that works at their plant is supposed to be super nice...... and I'm ALL ABOUT SUPER NICE PEOPLE......
There is the issue of the top bolt though, it's really supposed to be tough to get it, but once it's in you shouldn't have to worry about it for a long time!
Here is the thread where I read about it.I have the Power master 9050 on my 86 6.9.
Put it on there a good 7 years back or more.
Never have had a problem with it. Always kicks
the engine right over.
The 9051 for the Power Stroke is the same Starter,
but with a spacer ring. Remove the ring and it bolts
right up.
Here ya go.
Powermaster 9050/9051
I wanted to share my experience with a dead starter and Powermaster Technical support. I will post a very short version of this at the end for the impatient folks who don't want to read a novel LOL I purchased a 9050 in September of 2021. It died in July of 2023, just shy of two years.
