The first pic is an early psd fuel filter. I took one off a psd engine. They are located in the front valley pan area and tuff as hell to remove too...

So an electric fuel pump can kill performance on and IDI engine? My truck has a Holley Red pump mounted on the frame, should I remove this and replace with the old mechanical pump?

An electric pump won't kill the motor. Any pump putting out far too much volume and pressure will affect the operation of the IP and either make the truck run like crap or possibly damage the IP.

These IP's need very little fuel pressure to work fine.

Like was said... It's not that any electric pump is bad, its just the powerstroke fuel pump that will make an idi run like crap. Not because its electric, but because it puts out way too much for an IP to handle. Even if its regulated.
