something broke under the hood.... I thought it was the belt, but it was in one piece, something was squealing at idle. Of course it was dark so I could not see.. it looks like the PS bracket broke?

Dwight, take a look at the idler/tensioner ...just below the alt.

The PS bracket is one beefy cast alloy piece and I seriously doubt that would "just" break.

If the idler did throw a 7, now is the time to upgrade to the dual idler mod ;Sweet

That's really strange!

I've never heard to any bracket like that failing.... seems really wierd. Hopefully you can find one in a junkyard.

Holy Clotsaks, Batman!

how the hell did you manage that?

I don't know what happened, but it looks like the bottom was broken for a while then the top 2 went, the top bolt is missing ( well the head is the rest is in the PS pump) so that may have started it? The bolts are so long I can't even get them off to fix it, the keep hitting the pulley?

Where is this at? cause it has 2?

Dwight, the pulley needs to be removed in order for the bolts to come out......clicky here for puller kit
I know....cheap imitation from overseas but you will spend $80+ from NAPA etc... .......

The bonus is this kit will also work on the vacum pump pulley when it comes time to change it as well!

On '94/'97 PSD's the tensioner has a tendency to grenade.
You COULD spend$$$$$$$$$$$$ at the stealership for just a std replacement single pulley jobby

OR Spend about US $60 for a DUAL pulley tensioner. It is for '99 up PSD's.
Car Quest p/n 89257CQ and GreenStripe belt #K081223

The fix is realitvly simple.......{I did mine in the parts store parking lot with a cordless sawzall.......talk about REDNECK LOL }

You need a T-50 TORX bit...remove the LOWER right idler and pitch it away.
Using a medium fine sawzall blade, remove the pulley mounting boss down FLUSH-even- with the rest of the alt mount brkt.

I was able to do this with the alt brkt mounted....your experience/comfort level will dictate weather you remove the alt and brkt....6 bolts.

Then install the new dual idler tensioner.

The one you get from FORK {that costs more than twice} requires you to also grind the web area for clerance

Hope this helps
