Hey how’s it going, wonder if someone could possibly help me. I just bought a motorhome that has a 1984 6.9 L engine in it I was going over the fuel return lines, and I happened to notice that it appears something is missing it looks like something used to be screwed into the block right behind the CDR valve. I don’t see any wires nearby so I do not know if it was a sensor or a plug of some sort, just wondering if anybody might know

Welcome to the forum. Probably was the original glow plug controller but someone upgraded the plug to the solid state controller. a picture will help answer your questions too.

The glow plug controller is in the rear of the drivers side head. It has a harness attached to the top. It is unlikely the harness is not there as it is part of the entire GP harness. There is a drain fitting at the back of the valley pan. It takes a 3/8 drive to remove or install. It holds the valley pan down and is hollow to allow drainage.
Edit: The oil pressure sender is back there too threaded into the block at the very back by the firewall.

Thanks for getting pics makes it a little easier to help you out.

As tahoetom said it's a hold down and a drain for the valley pan. Nothing missing.
