Hello,

Picked up a 97 F250HD 4x4 with a 7.3 and ZF5 a few months ago while my 2016 work truck was getting a new engine (it took over 6 months from Jasper).

I've already put 10,000 miles on the 97. Good truck, only had about 135,000 on it when I got it. Replaced the lift pump and renewed the fuel bowl as it was leaking so much down the back that the clutch started slipping. That all dried out and its running good.

The problem I have now is it's leaking a lot of oil coming down the passenger side front of the engine. Not sure if it's the oil rail end plug or the HPOP line above it. It's leaking enough oil that the front of a trailer i was pulling had oil on it. Not sure if I should just reseal everything I have access to now that I have the accessories off or not. At first I was sure it was the end plug but now that I pulled it apart I'm not so sure.

My advice is to reseal it all while you’ve got it apart.

Thanks for the replies! That's the plan. Now that I have my '16 back I can take my time to fix this right.

Turned out to be the front Passenger oil rail end plug. I had the time to clean it up really well. Then I ran it sans belt and alternator to have a good look at it. I ran it a few times for a couple of minutes. Loaded up the engine to get oil pressure up and saw it starting to seep out. When I pulled the plug it was the original two seal that had obviously failed. All back and running well now. Thanks for the help.
