I'm going to ask the newbie question that has probably been asked many times. I've searched and have not come up with anything.
I have an 88 F350 7.3 NA. It is an absolute pig hauling my trailer 7k trailer. I want to be able to maintain 50 going up hill. Currently I'm slowing to 35 on slight hills and redlining to maintain that.
I would like to turbo it, but I'm not going to spend 2k on the aftermarket turbo for a 2k truck. Has anyone stuck a PSD or other turbo on the 7.3. How much fab work is required? Is it worth the effort?

Thats a hard question to answer about... Is it worth it... Thats something only you can answer but.... You will need to be able to fab most every part to convert the turbo as nothing just bolts up from psd to idi. Plus you will need to reduce the boost because the psd boost of 20 is about double what the idi handles.

I've been looking for a used system. I saw one on EBAy but it dissappeared. I assume it sold locally. I've looked throught he classifieds here and not seen anything and I'm always scrounging the junk yard, but every diesel gets stripped as soon as it hits the yard.

boost is limited by fuel on a non gated turbo, a stock fuel system probly wont over boost, as soon as i run across a psd turbo im going to start fabbing every thing up and put one on my truck, the real reason is that one day i want a turbo that capable of producing good boost numbers efficintly,(and not so costly) for when i build my engine for high horsepower

I know where there is a id with turbo and its already pulled for you. Where in California are you. I'm east of LA about 25 miles.... The motor has been sitting under a tarp for some time in a wrecking yard. I don't know why they have done this plus its behind a locked fence... Maybe the cars back there are the cherry ones...:dunno
