i have been thinking of getting a new set of cab lights. what i am not sure about is what style to get, so i would like y'alls thoughts on them.

i have been looking at the clear lights with a black base and use either a white or amber bulb, or i can get the amber lens style and paint the base black. it looks like i can just buy the clear light with black base online. just looking for something different i guess.

I had two trucks with cab lights (still have one the ole 74 highboy), both had rust issues due to leaking around lights. Whatever style you select, my advice is pay particular attention to the seal & use stainless fasteners.

If you have a harbor freight nearby the kit they sell for like ten bucks is really good. Has rubber that seals between the cab and light and between light and lens. It's what I have in my 150 and they're even slightly curved so they fit on the contour of the cab.

This is going to be one of "those to each his own" type things.

But for your truck, i like the idea of a black base, clear lenses, and amber bulbs.

i think now i have ruled out the amber lens, and thinking about it i dont think i want the white color bulb either.

i guess now would be the clear lens or smoked lens with an amber bulb.

As mentioned before go with what YOU want, just don't skimp on them. Get something that's good quality. I put a little clear silicone around mine so they wouldn't leak into the cab.

I know in Maryland clear/clear is illegal. Of course the Florida Georgia Line listening crowd runs them all the time.

Did you see that with the clear ones from LMC and the smoked ones from amazon, you don't have the choice which color bulb you want to use?
They are coming with amber LED's.

speaking about these lights, how are they holding on over longer times, anyone?

Over here (FRANCE) It's illegal to have them in orange. the law says front lights only are allowed to have white bulbs.

Black with tinted and led amber bulbs. Led will be plenty bright enough. If not then get better led bulbs and instal. Black and black and black would be a clean look. In my opinion anyway to each his own. Maybe even get clear front marker lights tinted and add the same amber led bulbs.

kind of what i am leaning towards. i did notice that there are several different brightness levels on the LEDs.

Old School Clearance Lights. These are similar to factory cab lights on 70's F-series.
