This unit is a 1990 vintage with about 140,000 miles on it. The o rings were cracked badly and very brittle. For about $75 at the Stealership, I had the cooler rebuilt in less than half a day.

Step one, clean after getting it off of the engine. My engine was on a stand so getting at it was a piece of cake.

Next I tapped the ends off with a hammer and a block of wood.

Now the old o rings are exposed and you can pull them off with dental tools or similar kind of picks. You can see the crack in the one pic. Definitely time to do this upgrade.

At this time I made sure all of the passages were clear, a couple needed a shot of shop air to clean out and this cooler was not rotted or anything like that so onto putting it back together.

Next I lubed up the new o rings with engine oil and slid them into place.

A look at the old o rings shows their poor condition.

NOw I chocked the oil cooler up in a pipe vise and used a tire iron to push the ends back on.

Lookin good goose. Don't forget Clegg's International Garage on Woodland Ave. In EHT. The right parts (Ford or International) at a great price. I been getting parts from him for awhile now and usually in stock or he'll have them next morning. What's your ETA on having it back on the road?

Cleggs is good, although I haven't used him of late. I hear he is even good at getting parts for the old stuff, like my '67 International Loadstar. I am hoping to be driving it by next weekend. A starter, small oil leak, and exhaust leaks are my last major hurdles. I am sure Murphy's law may have other plans for my schedule, we'll see.

I have seen your truck around a few times, we'll have to catch up.;Sweet

I looked for IH red but only found Chrysler or Ford red. I stayed with my loyalities and went with the Ford Red.LOL There is also a few coats of clear on the whole engine. I'm hoping it will wash easier and less dirt will stick to it. I usually wash my engine bay and wheel wells more often than the sheetmetal so it should stay pretty for a while.:Dcookoo
