There are at least six fires burning in Napa. Sonoma, Solano and Mendocino counties. They ALL started Monday night near midnight when high winds knocked down power lines, starting many of these fires. The fires quickly spread and became overwhelming for Cal Fire. Local and out of state crews have been brought in to help contain this massive fires. I was at a friends house in Potter Valley, near Ukiah, CA, yesterday. They live in a rural area wit well water and limited services. Power is out and will not be restored for at least a week. They have solar-tied-to-grid power but no battery backup so no power. They are running off of a 3500 watt gas genset. They are OK but many in Potter Valley are not. Napa and Sonoma counties have been hit hard. Thousands of homes are gone, as well as wineries. Highway 101 south through Santa Rosa has been closed since Monday night. There are ways around this road block, but they are slow. In general we are OK but it is a real awaking experience.
