No brake lights, pretty frustrated at this point

You don't have a multifunction switch on a 91. They didn't start until 92 with the OBS trucks. This is the one that has turn signals, wipers, dimmer switch, and maybe something else that I forgot. Yours is a turn signal switch with the tilt wheel function.

Yeah I noticed that this morning when I was looking them up. At least they're not horribly expensive.

Depends on who you ask. Some places call it multifunction some turn signal.

You may need load resistors in the lines to solve the LED problems. As for the brake lights, yes it goes through the column. Yes the haz will still work. They are fed from a different source than the brake lights. But you’ve figured all that out by now.
