I am picking up 55 gallons of new unused fresh vegetable oil.

Can I mix this with diesel and run it ? How hot does it need to be to be burned straight?

The easiest answer is to measure the viscosity of diesel vs the viscosity of your mix. Once you get close, you oughta have a safe % to start with.

With veggie oil you might want to watch your outside temps.
If you have some clear jars make up a sample mix of veg oil & diesel, whatever percentage you would run,
leave set outside.
Would want to see you with a tank of "jello".
IIRC, veg oil starts to get cloudy in the low 40's.
I think its good fuel, but really sensitive on temp.
Canola oil is a little better with temp.

Don't mix it with the diesel. I hear bad gunk forms in the tank. Use it in warm weather with 10-15% gasoline to thin it down. Veggie oil is also bad for steel tanks.

That is all I know :D

I think i will save it for summer. Truck is really crabby running who in the cold.

That is a great Idea. If the truck is already crabby in the cold, veggie oil is not a good Idea, because it appears you compression is already low, and you won't burn the veggie completely, and this will cause all sorts of problems. Veggie oil in the crankcase is not good.
