originally a 7.3 idi but I got one out of a manual from my buddy. I don't see the tps wire harness plug hanging in the engine bay but this would be my first diesel, I'm use to my old 86 dodge gasser lol

so what ive been researching 91 the came with the computer controlled system for the e40d so do I still need that tps or just throw a flexplate on?

The E4OD is exactly why you need the TPS (hint: what does the E stand for...). The controller needs to know throttle position to determine when to shift. With the old C6, it was done mechanically with a linkage on the throttle pivot on the IP.

If it's a mud truck I would look at a C6 perfect transmission bullet proof the E4OD not so much with out spending some cash and a computer controlled Trans in mud and water not going to last long.
