A return line restriction will cause the engine to shut down randomly usually on decel. It is nearly impossible to have one on our trucks, now on a GM it is real easy to pinch the return against the firewall, again, dont ask how I know this.

Hmm... lets see. I take your pump off, and put mine on, and it works. Yet somehow the problem is still in my truck? *scratches head* Return line restriction huh? How about maybe when you rebuild your pumps, you don't pay attention to the advance piston, and maybe a whole bunch of other clearances that really matter a lot?

what a butt wipe.

I went by the injector shop this morning and talked to my guy first. He said that they benched the pump last night and that it had passed with flying colors, just as I thought it would. He told me that he was gonna swap pumps anyway because he thought that there really was a problems, but they couldn't reproduce it on the bench. About that time the old man came in from the back and started throwing his weight around and said that I should at least pay for his guys time testing the pump..........:Whatever:...........I'm not sure if he changed his mind because he suddenly saw the error of his ways, or becase of my 6'5", pissed off shadow bearing down on him, but either way I've got another pump and his guys time wasn't worth that much after all.

Being normal sized is sooooo much fun. I always ask them when the last time they installed one of the older units. I had the same problem in Miami once. Hope this one works.

First thing this morning, before the rain. I swapped out the pumps, again. I didn't change anything. I just swapped pumps. Bled out the new pump, set the timing at 9.5, just like the last one. I drove it around the county for about 30 or 40 mins. Went back to the house, killed it, let it set for 30 mins more. I turned the key, didn't let the plugs cycle, and it started on the first time around, it's never started on the first time around.

I got this procedure down to about 45 mins if the engine is cold enough to work on. As long as all I'm out is 45 mins of labor and a trip to town, I'm just gonna keep swapping his pumps out till i get a good one, it really doesn't bother me too much to swap them out, as long as they don't try to renig on it again. I gotten about 20 or 30 different pumps from this guy over the last few years for work, and this is the first one I've had a problem with, just so happens It was the first one that came out of my pocket.
