I committed a sin and bought a $35 junker (bwd automotive) made in Americas sub basement (China) is this a hot idea? Is it possible to have a thread match for the tap and die? End is too mangled on the old injector to get a proper sizing?

If you're asking if you can use the "new" injector to get your thread size from, the answer is definitely.

Are you saying the cross threading was done going into the head?
If so, that may be harder to fix.

No. Only the hard line connection is the mangled end. I'm wondering if I should use the injector or get the measurements and dump it back at the store. Bwd brand made in China. Can't be good...

You may have to remove or at least loosen #8 line from IP to check, but verify if the line threads on new injector. If line threads are OK I would install the new injector. As far as the olive removal, you need to stab olive with a knife or dental pick to hold olive from rotating with the nut. Then thread the nut off the olive.

Guess my only consolation prize is removing the pass side kick panel and finding a car hauler receipt rental? Dated 5-12-88 from a place in Oklahoma. Seems the owner in nipotomo? California hauled a race car? According to it... Bet the car is still running unlike mine!

i believe it is supposed to be Nipomo, it is a town near where i live. strange place. still a ton of dirt and unnamed roads through there. Lots of mexicans moving into that area too. you can have a multimillion dollar home and right next to it is a shack that leans and leaks and looks like it will fall over in the next stiff breeze. anyway i know it is off topic but just thought i would throw it out there. good luck with your injectors.

I wonder what ford dealer my truck would have been purchased from? not even sure how I go about finding out that information... Where it lived for many? years was on La Quinta Drive. A "Richard" owned my truck then, if it's stretched that he was the one purchasing/renting? the car hauler.

The injector is all fixed and put back in, put the new fuel lines on and fired it up. I don't see any leaks so far I believe? Time will tell. was hard starting, but I think that is due to the air in the lines? got a heat wave today, so i'll see how he starts later... I'm suspecting the injectors/pump are "original?" but it has me at a loss. The bad one got pulled and attacked with a tap and die to take care of the cross threading. Looking at it showed a date of 5/1985 (err?) and it says B code. If my truck was built in 1/85, why does it have injectors that are 4 months newer? And does anyone know if it is true that red "wax" on parts of the IP means it is factory? The glow plug controller has some also on it.

Much much closer now to hauling a car down to anaheim for repairs.... seems fitting, hauling cars all the time!

Well the good news, the air leaks seem to be gone! I didn't replace the olive in the bigger fuel line from the pump to the top of the filter. just the two from the filter to the injection pump... Startled me earlier, actually started without cranking it for 10 years :p Lines are all nice and straight. I'm still confused honestly how I got the "benefit" of stripping a injector, but didn't have any problems with the o-rings and fuel lines. Works for me either way!

Sometimes stuff just happens, it doesn't take that much to cross a fine pitch thread. Don't waste time thinking about it, if it works good run it and enjoy it.

Exactly what it's getting soon. Hoping the a/c check tells Me more then "it don't werk!" At the dealership... Got some of the back seat speakers put in tonight, just have to wire them up now!

Found a pile of sand when I removed the scuff plate on the drivers side, so he enjoyed time at their beach via the previous owners!

he probably spent quite a bit of time at the beach it is only ten minutes from the pismo dunes. also all of nipomo is sand so some of it could have come from just getting in and out. here is a link to his street. i actually have worked on houses right around the corner from him, and am currently working on one on the other side of the freeway. i know this area quite well.

Neat! I do have the full address. Seems like it was sold in 06? According to zillow. Wonder if he pulled vehicles to pisomo dunes, judging by the trailer (rental?)

Would you have any idea what would be considered the "local?" Ford dealer my truck may have been purchased at?

the closest one would be in santa maria. the next closest would be in Arroyo Grande, Mullahey ford. San Luis Obispo is next. the one in SLO used to be hysen-johnson Ford (sp?) now it is perry ford, there is also one about an hour north in paso robles. those would be the closest choices all of them are great dealers and very helpful. not really sure how yo ufigure out which one though.

And final destination, Anaheim California. Would post the Vegas photo, but that's on my iPhone (music player) that will come later

The 2006 Malibu on the back has a recall out for a failed catalytic converter, and it threw the code so down it came. Out of my repair league, mainly space and tools the biggest problem. Not paying for it anyway when a recall exists!
