Need some input on pump options for my Used Engine Oil.

Here is what we use to transfer oil in the shop (tote to tote or tote to drum)

We use a big block chevy oil pump that has been drilled/welded for 1" female pipe fittings and 1" hose barbs. The pump is driven by a 1/6hp motor we had laying around.. connected directly with a lovejoy coupler. We have less then $100 in this setup... its made for oil and will pump a 55 gallon drum full (when transferring from a tote to our centrifuge drum) in a few minutes. Will empty a 275g tote in ~10 minutes or so.

I'm in a similar boat as the OP. I have access to a 275gal vat of used Hydro oil, but have to bring a pump with me. Your setup sounds ideal. Did you ever take pictures?

look up my channel on you tube "Cactus Bob" then look for a video on my WVO system . this is such a simple system and costs almost nothing to make (out of an old oil heater burner gun) you can use it with filters or not . it uses such a low HP motor that it runs on a 1000w inverter no problem .
after 28 years it still moves all my oil,filters all my oil, with never a problem. it will require a little work on your part to find the parts and fit unions to allow removal of filters ect . but as a system it's fool proof . it even has a buiit in handle on top.

PS : looking at the post above i now see the OP's needs, the system i have would not work well for you , you need a high volume pump For this i have a diesel pump from a external fuel tank like you would see in the back of a pickup truck . (Hose, fuel nozzle and all ) this runs off of 12V and all i needed to do was screw in a longer pipe to the bottom of it to reach the bottom of larger tanks . this is what i use to move oils that are not that dirty. really dirty i still use the slower filter pump. if it's too dirty i just don't .

PSS: before you think "a pump like that is too expensive" I bough 2 over the years both with tanks one was beat up listed on CL for 100, bought it for 75 the other really nice filled with bio ,flow meter nice hose and nozzle .....$250.00. one is for unfiltered and one for finished product .......the storage tanks are a plus, you can never have too much fuel storage.

Never got around to taking pictures... For big jobs, we stepped up to a 2" trash pump from harbor freight. Empties 275g totes in less then 3 minutes.
