when i ground the FSS, and when i turn the ignition on it sounds like it is coming from the same place, ill price one tomorrow, if its not too bad ill try that if not its got to be the pump and like i said as old as the pump is and the injectors are original so it wouldnt hurt to refresh the fuel system, my question is would it be better to get a set of Delphi injectors for $174, or rebuilt ones for $108 im lookin on this website
http://pensacoladiesel.com/ford-6-9l-7-3l/injectors.html, i dont want high dollar factory ones i just want stuff that will do the job for a good price this is just a high mileage daily driver right now.
just to be clear....you said you are grounding the FSS? You need to run a positive lead to this terminal, not a ground. Sorry if I said ground before, but If I said ground I should have said positive lead off the battery.
The clicking you are describing sounds to me like a GP relay. I would check out the GP's and make sure that all 8 work and are getting fire.
When my GP's burned up, because I used Bosch plugs, I had the same thing happen. The relay would click and snap for about 10 - 15 seconds and stop. I had to give it a sniff of ether to get it to kick off. But for your sake, make DAMN sure that the glow plugs ain't live....Red hot glow plugs and ether WILL result in memory loss, plastic facial surgery and a lot of 4 letter long words that start with "F". I don't wanna send the "new guy" into a bad situation lol.
If the plugs are burnt up, replace with MOTORCRAFT or BERU plugs only...most others are junk and won't last. I am a victim myself of cheap plugs. Take a test light, clip one end to the positive end of the battery post, and then tough the screwdriver end of the test light on EACH plug, while it is unplugged. If the light lights up, the plug is ok, if it doesn't light up...replace that plug.
