Okay guys I've looked over some of the forums and cant seem to find anyone having the same issue. I recently purchased my first IDI after a quick once over. Drove it a hour an a half home with no issues other than the truck stalling at a lil under a 1/4 tank. I am in the process of rebuilding/restoring the body and have noticed a small fuel leak after I shut off the motor. As of late the leak seems to be growing. I have examined the suspected area of the leak next to the fuel filter but cant seem to figure it out. Any suggestions as to what/where the leak may be coming from, trouble spots, etc.? Thanks for any advise in advance!

When you say it stalls when under a 1/4 tank more than likely your shower head on the fuel pickup in the tank is broken, the fuel leak by your fuel filter head could be the water separater leaking or your fuel heater and it could be a leaky return line under the fuel filter, look at the injectors for fuel around the return lines and tees.

The filter head has a few areas that can leak... can you narrow down the source of the leak?

Welcome to the forum. Might help telling us what year and engine size you have. The 7.3 filter heads do have a couple of locations that have leaked over the years. Try tightening the brass fuel supply and feed line nuts on the lines to and from the filter head. Inside those brass nuts are a seal called an olive. they do wear out and leak. Hope this gets you started finding the leaks. Ask how to remove and replace them too if they are bad. It can be a tuff job.

Sorry for the late reply, my truck is a 2wd 1991 f250 with the 7.3 n/a motor and a 5spd. I didn't notice the leak until a few days ago while I was stripping the front end off. Currently the leak seems to be around the fuel filter. Once I get further into the teardown where I can get a good visual inspection I'll update ya.
