My turn for a tranny

E4OD has bitten the bullet. It's been going for some time, but now it won't shift from 1 into second, unless I lift and wait for the shift.

Does anyone have an ATS in their truck with around 350 HP? how many miles and how well does it shift?

Well Gary, you are far ahead of my auto tranny experience.....I went thru 5 on my '93 in 4 years/225k miles...and I didn't have a modded PSD

Have you considered a BTS?

I have to wait until monday to make some calls to find some real number$ .


BTS is in the running, Gotta convince momma of it. I know I don;t make large amountws of power, but I cooked a basicly stock tranny in about 20,000 miles. Local builder wont warranty and work with the truck being modified. (I Don't really blame them). Bad thing about the BTS is the shipping back and forth. I can't make the 1800 mile round trip.(time and not sure if the truck would make it on it's own one way).

I'm considering an ATS, but I have heard bad things about them fighting warranty claims.

Also I can have mine rebuilt with the upgrades installed and an aftermarket converter.

The other option is a stock Ford rebuild and pay to have the upgrades installed and then an aftermarket converter.


From what I seen so far, bottom price is gonna be about $3000, and without talking to BTS I think I looking at around $5000 for one of his shipped to my door.


Can anyone confirm the price of a BTS Shipped to their door?


I can still drive the truck, it's just it won't shift out of first without letting out of it then it will go. Just not sure how long I can "baby" it and still be able to get around with it.

Have you checked the connector on the passenger side of the tranny behind the heat shield. My wife's 97 did exactly the same thing and all it was is some atf had gotten in the connector. After cleaning everything and reconnecting it works perfect.
