Yup, I have used more Bosch gp's than any other. I use dura-terms in my n/a VW's other brands tend to not last long. I think most German gp's are pretty good as a rule. The gp I ended up with did not look German, looked like it came from where ever autolites are made.

Were you using the automatic glowplug controls or manual?

Both systems give the same amount of power to the plugs, but with manual control YOU control the time. In my experience the bosch need 5-8 seconds of glow time, beru 8-12+. The automated glow plug controller is calibrated for the beru's and will eat bosch up like it is candy. I ran a set for two winters before switching to the beru's after hearing they were so great. The bosch were still fine when I pulled them. Not like Oregon gets that bad of weather though so YMMV ;Sweet

At this point I think if you are in stock configuration, it is a waste of money to use anything other than Beru's. The system seems built around this particular glow plug and it just plain works well. I can't beleive what a difference it made when I replaced that one bad plug. Now the truck instantly starts where as it was taking several seconds prior and not at all below 25f. I'm sure it is not just because there are only 7 lit plugs, I think they must not be able to keep at the right temp, do to the regulation device turning the power on and off due to too much energy. Now I can start the truck at 20F just like it was 80F out. Crazy....

I received my replacement glow plug and it is a Beru. I bet the one I got was someone who bought the berus and put the other GP in the old motorcraft bag and sent it back, since they have a pretty much no questions asked return policy.

Glad they made it right. Amazon is usually pretty good. Did you have to pay return shipping? That sometimes is the only drawback to Amazon. You have to make sure its the right thing. Looking at some brake parts on there right now.

Nope free shipping both ways. It was 23F out this morning and the truck started instantly, it looks like all the starting issues have been ironed out for now.
