My lovely e4od is still acting up

It acts the same when it is all hooked up. It seems as if the detent intside the trans. is off, even though it's a pretty basic design and I can't imagine how it could be off.. I have a junk e4od that I have been messing with , trying to figure out what could be messed up inside the pan, but the detent selector doesn't have any room for adjustment, and I can't find anything that could be causing this issue. It definitely feels like a mechanical issue though I am open to all suggestions. I have thought about swapping in another detent and selector tab but I really didn't want to have to buy more trans fluid.

Drain the tranny fluid into a clean bucket. No need to waste it.

It might be time to take a look inside. Something funky is going on. You will want to check the detent spring. Take a good look at the detent itself. Post up what you find.

I've always been too scared about draining the trans. fluid and reusing it, even when it's new. I live in the mountains and have a long dusty road. We have a lot of dust in the air, and I don't have an enclosed shop. I may try it this time though and try to work fast before the dust gets on/in every thing.

I think pulling the pan is my only option at this point, it has to be an issue with the detent or spring. I'll pop it off and take a look . I did have to remove the detent spring and replace it, I had shifted it too far and the spring popped off the end of the detent arm. The gears clicked in really soft so while I had it off I bent it SLIGHTLY so that it would put more pressure on the detent and be a more secure fit. Maybe this is the issue... but I can't see it causing any problems as it was barely bent and it shouldn't change anything other than how firm it clicks in.

I pulled the trans. pan today. Check out the pics to see what I found . I replaced it with a spare, tossed the pan back on, poured another 8 quarts into the pan and fired it up... IT WORKS!!!!! It's a lot smoother and does not rev as high to move. I am SOOO relieved !
