Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of helpful guys and good advice here. The only stupid question is an unasked question. I'm on my 4th IDI and still learning new stuff almost daily. Start off by checking your glow plugs and controller. Does the "Wait To Start" light even come on? If your truck has a block heater, plugging it in about two hours before you need to fire the truck up will help with the cold starts until you get the problem traced out.

well, I'm not within 50 miles or an expert by any means, but I'm in Ohio. Time...what's that! Anyway, as was said, read and read some more, but to get the ball rolling, glow plugs should be your focus. There are several ways to test them. But you've probably got some bad glow plugs, bad glow plug controller or both.
