I have an advanced auto and car quest near me. I have never even seen a pep boys or speed shop. Took like 20 minutes to make one so it wasn't too bad.

The one around here is the only one I have ever seen. Now that I think about it I remember someone telling me there are only a handful in the country.

Electric fuel pumps are supposed to push fuel, not pull it, so the closer to the supply the better. They will work, sorta, at the engine, but they really are not very efficient there.

This statement is not intirely true. The electric lift pumps genlightning sells us wull suck fuel from 11 ft and pull it from under the semi trailers up the the front refer systems found on many of the trailers carrying our cold stuffs across this country., Look over the next semi trailer you see going down the road. See the top of the trailer up front.. Now look under the trailer where that small diesel tank is...

Yep, you are right, but that is one of very few designed to do that. The rest will not work that way.

This also is correct. Its rare to learn that all or never are completely true statements. I feel my posts pull others quotes closer to whats known to be a better statement. I reaely fly the bs flag.. But when I do its for good cause..

Here are the specs for the pump I used. It is mounted on the fender (inside LOL). This gives me easy access to service. I have been running it untouched for three years - this weekend I will pull the filter off of it and clean it.
This pump is good for 4ft dry lift, with the ability to go to 10 ft.

BTW, the FRB-13 can be had for $135 and is fully compatible with biodiesel to 100%. This is a marine grade pump.

Here's a picture of my install. I have a three position hammer switch on it (it locks in each position) - auto (comes on with ign sw), off (so no one can steal the truck), and ON so I can purge the fuel system or steal some fuel for 'liquid boyscout':sly

Ok looks pretty simple. Did the pump last or did you end up switch back to mechanical?

I will never go back to Mechanical, EVER, I'll go with one from Genlightening as soon as I can. The lil green beast is ticking away just fine...so far:hail

I don't do a lot of high speed driving, rarely much over 55 MPH, so I can't say if it delivers enough fuel for that, however I live in hilly country and it seems to work just fine uphill.

The original lift pump on my truck lasted about 27 years. Then a few months ago it let go. And the airtex ones are the ones that keep failing on me
I replaced one a month or so ago...the prior "Carter" lasted some 18 years!
My research told me to not use "Airtex"
I called Carter, they told me the one in a Ford-box is their Carter...so that's what I installed, again.

I've been running a Carter 4070 (4-6psi 72gph) for about six months now, No complaints whatsoever. Ill warn though there is only one place on the frame tall enough to mount it, right near the front cab mount. Just my .02
