Can you post a picture of how the spare tire mounts under the rear tank? I have the skid plates mounted under my rear tank and can't seem to figure out how to mount the tire there. I presume there was some type of stock mount at one time. Leaving the spare bouncing around in the bed is irritating.

Call me hillbilly but I’ve deal with a hole in the bottom of the tank and a leaky filer neck
I’ve seen shockingly good success with a jb welded plate to the bottom of the tank, 4 years and counting
I wrapped my filler neck with electrical tape 2 years and counting
For some reason the filler neck is hard to find the replacements are to short to fit in my case

...ame to Straps, and gooped up the recessed area on the tank for the Straps, and Straps too, with RTV for a cushion....

Sounds messy. Could I get by with just cutting strips off an inner tube and using those for padding under the tank?

Yes. I did that when I installed my Bronco tank. I actually used electrical tape to hold the strips in place. I feel that once the straps are tight, then the tape can fall off and the strips will be held in place by the tank and straps.

Good. I would rather not have to deal with this sticky crap if I ever have to do this again.

Well the RTV does set up and does not stay goopy/sticky.
Let it set up.
Yeah you can use bicycle inner tube for strips under the
straps. As I remember Ford has some strips of Canvas
impregnated with tar, and they were falling apart.

Your truck, your Tank, do as you wish.
