Anybody know the last build date for the Factory IDI Turbo engines? The sticker on mine denotes June 30, 1994. Just curious to see where it falls in the line

I *THINK* you could get an IDI/IDIT the entire 94 model year, and the PSD started in 94.5 per Ford designation. (Just like the 6.0 is a 2003.25 model year)

The reason being, in the 94 model year, if you wanted a Diesel and an Automatic Transmission (E4OD), the auto was ONLY offered behind an IDI/IDIT. The 94 model year (94.5) PSD's were ONLY available with a ZF-5 Manual Transmission from the factory...... The PSD didn't get and auto until 95..........

So in the 94 Model year you had these choices.....

7.3 IDI - Auto or Manual
7.3 IDIT - Auto or Manual
7.3 PSD - Manual...

Which holds true J, as your truck is an Auto, and Jasper's is a Manual.......

^^^^ +1; as I understand it, the PSD was introduced mid-year '94, but it did not REPLACE either IDI option.

I assume it'd be sometime in '96 as far as the engines themselves go, even after these trucks were no longer available with them they were still available as a '96 model year mercruiser, might be even later than that with the availability of replacement engines. :dunno

Yep, and an easy way to tell on a 94.... if it's an Automatic, it will be an IDI.... (Unless it was converted later.... but that's a different story)

This is an odd one for Ford... it does seem that normally a "decimal year" vehicle is either an entirely new vehicle, or a complete replacement..... Like the 64.5 Mustang..... or the 2003.25 Trucks/Excursions..... The 'stang was new, and the 6.0 totally replaced the 7.3....... 94 was an odd year with 3 completely different options on the diesel...... because even though the Factory Turbo OPTION was available in 93/94, it was still an option... you could still buy an N/A IDI or an IDI-T at the same time..... not all 94 IDI's were turbo.... just had that option.......
