Well it's been a while coming but I've just bought 24 acres out here in Blue Ridge Va.

Going to put up a shop (finally) and use the land for general tomfoolery including dirtbikes, chainsaws, hunting, shooting etc.

It was an old farm at one point. Been uninhabited the last 25 years. I was told it was an apple farm once but can find no evidence of that anymore. From all the old jugs laying around I'd vote moonshine farm.

There is an old house I need to tear down as well as 3 falling/fallen down barns that need to go away. But there are 3 buildings I'm going to keep and get back into use as time allows.

I'm very much looking forward to getting everything under 1 roof again as my projects have been stalled for far too long.

    Some pictures.

You should look into selling the barn wood for trendy den siding or picture frames and the like.

    no
    Edit
I got no hydrology joke ready..AND I missed the emoji
    End edit
As the drainage is around 2' wide and 3" deep thru that spot, the 2 1\2' deep lake got to beds and stuff that never sees standing water...

Exactly the same sentiments here! We are currently trying to find some property to build and settle on.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Long term members of this fine publication may remember I had bought a 50 acre farm back in 08'. That went away when the ex and I split up in 12'. So I've been waiting for an opportunity to get back on some land for a few years now. I miss my space.

Just fortunate to have this work out when it did.

Hope to have a house built out there in the next 10 years and then move out there permanently.

Sweet! I have been going up to Arkansas couple times a year have my eye on a piece of property gonna pull the trigger on it soon. I have spent my whole entire adult life in third world nonpermissive locations and now its about time for me to pull the trigger on my own piece of property. Things are getting outta control in this what used to be smallish beach town. I wanna place where I can sit on my porch and check zero. Plus work on all my old stuff without nosy neighbors calling code on me. Congrats!
