If you have custom IC pipes and they keep blowing off, you may want to give this a try. I was talking with some guys about it today, and they asked me to put a video together. I hope it helps someone out. We would all love to have our own bead roller to do this, but this is a great DIY cheap method if you are like me and have more time than money.

Nice. I bet your hands are tired but that's a pretty slick idea for cheap.

Yeah bead rollers are in the 130$ range. I was going to go halfsies on one with my buddy because he has piping to do too but this might be a viable option.

Yeah, $130 isnt too bad. But you know how it is, a hundred here, a hundred there, pretty soon you are talking about real money! LOL

Yeah, boy do I know how it goes. $100 here, hundred there. I've built my entire shop on my little project. Had a few odds and ends when I started. That's a great little idea.

I'm sure it will work on stainless if you have enough grip to squeeze it. Stainless tends to be a little tougher.

Its actually not that bad on your hands since it makes such a small dimple in the metal. I also used it when I had to splice two radiator hoses together for plumbing the 4bt to the radiator.

Thats sweet....thanks for this....

..one could weld a 1/4" × 1" x 3" long flat bar to one handle then hold the plier in a vice and it would be much easier even add a spring to between the handles and one hand the deal and rotate pipimg..

Just a thought....

When you are slipping the hose connections over the tube use some cheap hair spray on the connection. This does 2 things. It acts like a lube so it slides on easier. then once the clamp is tight and the hair spray has hardened it acts like a glue holding the hose to the metal tube much better. Really not sure how difficult removal is later on but they will not blow off any longer ...

Awesome idea...I researched this very thing quite a bit when building my Intercooler charge pipes. I too was unwilling to shell out the $$$ for a tool I would probably only use once. This is the first option I've seen for those without welding capabilities.

Here's my version:

Old pair of vice grips, 2" fender washer, and a 2.5" exhaust clamp (2.5" intercooler tubing)

And an example of one of the many beads I made with it.

Doesn't make quite as sharp of a bead as the above version, but no issues thus far after assembling everything dry.
