You mentioned south of the border sales.. When I wirked for Evergreen I built a truck just like mine for the bosses son, just an NA C6 version.. went thru it top to bottom, engine trans gear boxes, he was taking an expedition, trip not the suv, down to South america. He said he was going to sell it and fly back, I told him he would never get out the 8 to 10k we spent on it, he said " you are right , this truck will bring 20k down there " I about flipped and he said because they were simple and dependable, he ended up getting 17k or so with a mashed rf fender.

Along those lines, anyone have suggestions on reasonable ways to make one of these relatively theft-deterrent without getting into all sorts of exotic/ expensive alarms? I hear that "the club" type steering wheel locks are useless, as the thieves just saw through the steering wheel with a cordless sawzall and take them off.

Thanks

Some tweekers tried to steal my snowmobile and my buddies riding lawnmower out of his back yard here in Seattle. We had a little stake out for 3 days with a 9mm, .17hmr and a 12ga waiting for them to come back but the ****** never did. the mower doesnt run but they hooked up some ropes and drug it out to the road and left it like they were going to pick it up later. My sled was on a trailer and they moved the whole thing out front. stupid fawkers.

I had some tweaker ass hat try to get my truck while I was in old land hole (orlando). I was 5 feet away in the garage and heard my door catch click when he tried to open the door. I have never seen a guy run that fast, I literally came out of the shadows with what looked like a shotgun (was actually a heavy steel pipe) and almost got up close enough to stop his standing up every again, he turned went white as a sheet and hauled ass.

Sorry to hear about your truck. Try googleing stolen craigslist search. Its a nation wide cl search. try anything and everything related to your rig. It may be south of the border, or it may be south of town.

I used to run with a seriously rough crowd. Thieves are opportunists and very rarely intelligent (there are exceptions, I know, I was one). I'm way to far past that and out of the loop to be any help know, other than to give you piece of mind. Look for clues as to how, why, when (as close as possible) and go from there. You may get luckier than the thieving assjack and get your rig ( and hopefully sweet, sweet revenge)

I'm really sorry to hear that. It seems like this sort of thing is on the rise. I hope you find your rig. I think the hardest stuff to loose is the stuff you've poured your blood sweat and tears into!

This isn't much consolation, but you're in one piece. I've heard countless stories recently about a lot of people getting shot in these instances.

Keep things safe in your search to find it.

Sorry to hear about your truck, that just sucks!

Owning a car lot I have had a Bonneville, Suburban, and a Honda Civic stolen off my lot in 8 years.

The Civic was a nice car it was stolen at mignight so I spent the next day getting 100 copies of the page on my website printed out and passed them out to all of the car dealers and auto shops within a 10 mile range. Because if this the car was found in a back alley of GR, totally stripped. I got it back got insurance money out of it found a parts civic and put it back together. It was worth the effort and I still made money on the car.

What I would suggest is posting it with pics on every website that you can, Craigslist, Oilburners, FTE, TDS etc,... that it was stolen and offer a cash reward. You never know who will see it and may be able to help out.

Start Fighting and try to get it back!

When I put new seats in Henry I was left with 2 thru floor holes where the new seats mounts didn't match up. I used the one on the drivers side to extend the toggle of the fuel pump switch through. The knap of the carpet hides it pretty well and it's just far enough under the front edge of the seat to not be noticed but easy to get to when seated by reaching down between your legs. Being robbed sucks. It's happened to me twice now and nothing leaves you feeling as helpless and frustrated, not to mention major league pissed off. Best of luck.

This is most disturbing... Theres no way someone could have known how nice the motor was and the body was simpley outstanding.... No pd will really "try" to find it either. Its just way too much work for them. I'm thinking its still around town and not over the border. Hopefully some creeps just needed a joy ride or needed something moved. Thing is who ever took it knew how simple it is to get it started. Any chance your business neighbor was there all nite and herd something. Being locked up behind a locked gate should have sent these ****** on their way. Seems like someone was really brave to cut the gate lock and then hotwire the motor. It did have a steering lock didn't it??? I don't recall when those were on every car or truck... As posted above... It sure would be nice to get it back because someone cared enough to Overhaul you... But even that would really upset me too. Its great to get your property back nicer than you had it but the pain of looseing it sucks...

I had some dude try to jump in my bosses truck while I was pumping gas one time...I confronted him and he started yelling that I was an a$$hole cookoo

I had an idea for a theft deterrent that should confuse all, wire the ignition switch to a dummy starter solenoid so the thief can hear the click-click, but no start, then run a hidden momentary switch to actually start the truck, I've started this on my Peugeot, converted the seat belt warning light to a momentary switch :sly
