thanks i made a typeo i meant to ask is there a need to filter new oil
new motor oil is too thick to run as fuel. not to mention way overpriced. no, you don't need to filter new motor oil, but you certainly want to reduce the ratio mix of oil though.

I'd start with a 75% diesel and 25% oil.
be sure it's not synthetic. that stuff doesn't burn well at all.
oh yea... the price on the '86 f250 is $2800. no trades.

I am not saying you are incorrect on the synthetic not burning well.

My first batch of oil I tried in my truck was 15 gallons of various types of synthetic oils I had lyning around for years, well settled, I used a paint strainer 190 micron to filter it, didnt need to, nothing was in the filter.
Truck ran just fine, I could not tell any difference.
Just my findings...

go for a long term diet of the stuff and get back to me.
the main sell point for true synthetic oil products is the raised burn point. as a result, the precups tend to coke up sooner.

i do highly suggest batteries, tires and a fluid change and it's ready to go.
this truck was used for commuting between TX and kali. The condition is solid enough where I was willing to leave it at the Waco airport for a year at a time and not have any issues starting up and going home once the batteries were reconnected. if it wasn't for the fear of hail damage, the truck would still be out there. the front end was rebuilt not long ago and it got a clutch at the same time. currently, the cats use the lumber rack platform to stay away from the dogs.
